recent conversation between Desmond's nai nai (grandmother on the father's side) and yeh yeh (grandfather on the father's side):

nai nai: I think Desmond should sign up for swimming lessons, he's got a lot of potential.
yeh yeh: Are you sure? He's only 2 years old...
nai nai: Exactly! If he starts swimming now, he'll make the Olympics for sure. Just look at him, he'll break all of Michael Phelps' records.
yeh yeh: I don't know... someone like Michael Phelps only comes around once every 20 years or so.
nai nai: Perfect, which means Desmond will be ready for the 2028 Olympics!

Here's the original train set that Stacy and I bought for Desmond earlier this year. It's what I like to call CLASSIC.

And here's the train set that my mom bought for Desmond this past weekend.

So far it appears to have a *slight* edge over his original set...

Like the hat? Desmond's nai nai got it for him as well.

back from our sabbatical

Some people have been asking what Desmond's been up to these past couple of months, seeing as how I haven't updated his blog here in a while. I'll post some new pictures | videos over the next couple of weeks, but right now we're keeping him focused on his basketball tournament.

blockbuster night

Last Friday, I took Desmond to the local Blockbuster store. I thought it'd be interesting to see what kind of movies he'd pick out on his own, so I just let him do his thing. Here are the 4 movies he ended up taking off of the shelf:

Fight Club
Babel
some Ultimate Fighting Championship DVD
Strawberry Shortcake: Cooking Up Fun

He also knocked down a 2 liter bottle of Fanta Orange and grabbed a couple of Snickers bars.

For reals, this boy is my son.
